Building Hope Together
Healing Through Yoga & Wellness
Empowerment Through Creative Arts
---
We are a nonprofit organization founded in 2016 in Dzaleka Refugee Camp, born from a powerful vision to transform pain into purpose.
The organization was established by a trauma survivor who personally experienced the healing power of yoga and the arts, to provide refugees a safe and compassionate space to heal, grow, and thrive.
What began as small yoga sessions within the camp quickly evolved into a comprehensive community program addressing mental health, education, creative expression, and holistic wellness. Today, we serve thousands of refugees through integrated programs that recognize the deep connection between mental health, creative expression, and human resilience.
We believe that every individual deserves access to mental health support and opportunities for personal growth, regardless of their circumstances.
Since its founding in 2016, Art for Hope has positively impacted thousands of lives in Dzaleka Refugee Camp. Through yoga, arts, education, and holistic wellness programs, we have created safe spaces where refugees can heal from trauma, build confidence, and reconnect with hope. Hundreds of children have been enrolled in educational initiatives, while youth and adults have gained access to creative platforms and mental health support that strengthen resilience and personal growth.

What We do
We do It for all people
Mental Health & Wellness
90% of Dzaleka’s population lives with trauma from past horrors and the daily stress of confinement, uncertainty, and limited opportunity. Yet formal mental health services are critically scarce. At Art for Hope, we bridge the gap. Through community-based mental health support, we bring healing where professional services can’t reach.
Creative arts therapy
Art is a universal language, and in Dzaleka, it’s a powerful tool for healing. We provide a safe and supportive environment for refugees to process their experiences, reclaim their narratives, and share their voices with the world. Through various mediums, we transform pain into power and stories into art.
Education & Empowerment
Education is the key to a brighter future. We break down barriers to learning by offering flexible, accessible programs for all ages. From foundational literacy to professional skills, we help refugees build their knowledge, increase their self-reliance, and create new opportunities.
Sport & Recreation
In Dzaleka, sport is vital for both physical and mental health. Our sports programs foster teamwork, discipline, and joy. We create opportunities for everyone, from kids to adults, from casual joggers to serious athletes to come together, get active, and build camaraderie.
Emergency & Social Support
Before anyone can thrive, their basic needs must be met. Our emergency and social support programs provide a crucial safety net for the most vulnerable members of our community. We are committed to ensuring that no one is overlooked, offering relief with compassion and dignity.
Yoga Teachers Training
We believe that the power to heal a Dzaleka community lies within the community itself. That’s why we bring world-class yoga teacher training directly to Dzaleka.
